How often should I pressure wash my home?
Atlanta Painting and Construction recommends your home be pressure washed annualy to keep mold and mildew from growing on the paint. Our climate here in Georgia provides the perfect opportunity for mold and mildew to grow, thrive and wreak havoc on our homes exteriors. If left to survive mold and mildew will damage your paint over time and shorten the life of your paint job. Mold and mildew can also be a health hazard therefore pressure washing is an essential service needed for your home. Atlanta Painting and Construction can provide group pricing for your subdivision HOA or for pressure washing customers 2 or more that schedule together. Just call or email our office for a free proposal.

How can I tell if my home needs to be pressure washed?
Again Atlanta Painting and Construction recommends that this service be done annually so if it has not been washed in the last year then it is time. Unfortunately, some homeowners wait several years before pressure washing. They wait until they see large amounts of green and black mold and mildew and think that is the signal to pressure wash. This is the wrong approach. It may take 2-3 years to see mold and mildew from a distance. Even though you can't see it from a distance, it is there and growing. Sometimes darker paints even hide mold and mildew until it's too late. Please don't get a false sense of confidence by painting with a darker color thinking that this may save you money in pressure washes in the future due to the fact that you cannot see mold and mildew as easy. Mold and mildew will damage the paint in the areas of heavy growth and should be removed each year to extend the life of your paint.

How can I tell if my home needs to be painted?
There are several ways, but  One would be to call a professional for a free evaluation of your paint. Another would be to take a slow walk around the home visually inspecting it looking for missing caulk between joints and cracks. Look for fading, cracking, or peeling paint. Look for holes, rotten areas or damage done by insects, animals, or plants or trees.

I have 3 estimates from different companies with a wide range of pricing differences, why is this?
There can be many reasons for this. Paint companies, paint contractors, and painters use a wide variety of materials and methods. From time to time our estimators get the opportunity to view other companies estimates that have been provided to one of our potential clients. We have seen proposals on everything from a legal pad to a napkin.... Yes a napkin. We see estimates that state "this is only an estimate and the price could change during the process". Unfortunatly there are painters out there that will come in with a low ball "estimate" only to increase the price of the job during the process or at the very end when they come to collect. First and foremost Atlanta Painting and Construction believes in providing a fair, honest price for services. That is why we give our customers firm proposals/service agreements instead of estimates. These proposals are always issued in writing via computer, email or official office dupicate forms to the exact dollar figure for the service. The only thing that can cause the price to change is if the customer adds or removes something from the job. Another thing can cause proposals to vary in pricing are the types of materials used. Atlanta Painting and Construction only uses premium paint lines from PPG Porter Paints and Sherwin Williams.

What kind of paint does Atlanta Painting and Construction use?
Atlanta Painting and Construction typically uses PPG Porter Paints Acri-Shield satin on siding, and Acri-Shield gloss on trim. We use Acri-Pro 100 on stucco. Of course, customers may choose to use a different sheen if they prefer, such as semi-gloss or flat. We recommend the satin and gloss finishes because they will offer the most protection for your surfaces and give your paint job a fresh look and feel for several more years. We also use Sherwin Williams Super Paint for exteriors on request. Atlanta Painting and Construction does not use builder's grade paint on any project that we do. We wouldn't want it on our homes and we won't put it on yours.

Can gutters and downspouts be painted?
Atlanta Painting and Construction always includes gutter and downspout painting in our exterior repainting process, unless of course the customer doesn't want this service for whatever reason.

I live in a new home. How long does the builder's paint job typically last?
A typical builder's paint job lasts 2-3 years. By this time the paint is usually faded, or chaulked out. Another common issue with 2-3 year old homes is wood rot. Check really well around the base of columns, all vertical trim boards - especially on chimneys, door frames, window ledges and sills. Most 2-3 year old homes that we paint have at least 1-2 areas of wood repair needed. Typically those 1-2 areas are the bottom of a door frame, and a chimney cornerboard. If you wait 4-5 years to paint a new home you may have many more areas of rotten wood. If you have any concerns or doubts as to the quality of your current paint job call Atlanta Painting and Construction for a free no-obligation paint evaluation.

Can we supply our own paint or do we have to let you provide it for us?
Atlanta Painting and Construction typically includes providing the paint for every customer. However, some customers already have their paint purchased when they call us out. Other customers also believe they will get better pricing if they provide the paint. In theory this may seem like a better option, but let's think about that for a second. Atlanta Painting doesn't "sell paint" and our proposals include the materials unless otherwise noted. We spend tens of thousands of dollars on paint each year with our suppliers so of course our pricing is going to be lower than that of a retail customer. However, we will allow clients to provide their own paint if they desire.

Can Atlanta Painting and Construction help us choose paint colors?
Yes we can. The final decisions are obviously up to the client, but our seasoned professionals can help guide you to some of the most popular color choices around. We can also help inform you of many "do's and don'ts" when it comes to choosing colors. Choosing reds, yellows, golds, tans, beiges, and blues can be very difficult without the proper experience. Some colors can change exponentially to your eye just by looking at them in both sunshine, or shade. Again, just fill out our Contact Us form or call us to set up a free consultation. PPG Porter Paint's Voice of Color has a Color Sense Game that can also help with educating you on color selection.
